Spinel is a tough and treasured gemstone. Considered as being so perfect, in Burma they are said to be “polished by the spirits”. Its natural lively colours, ranging from red to blue and purple, combine with the stone's remarkable brilliance and clarity.
In ancient times, Spinel was treasured by kings and emperors in Asia. Even now, the British Imperial Crown features a large red spinel.
