This necklace features a cabochon Agate with a jade-like green colour.
Traditionally Agate is worn for protection. In the Middle Ages it was worn as an amulet, a small piece of jewellery believed to protect against danger and disease.
Agate occurs as masses in rocks and when split open reveals amazing variety of colours and patterns as well as distinct banding. It gets polished for use in pendants or brooches. It was used extensively in Egypt and Rome in ornamental pieces and jewellery.
Details: Oval cabochon Agate and silver pendant measuring 9mm x 7mm with a 45cm long silver chain. This Agate was dyed green.
