In Scotland, Smoky quartz is known as “Caringorm”. This is the region where it was found originally and was widely used in Celtic jewellery.
Smoky quartz is found in Brazil, Australia, Madagascar, Spain, the USA and Switzerland. Smoky quartz crystals weighing as much as 300 kilograms have been found in Brazil.
